Sri Lanka, historically known as Ceylon and officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia. It lies in the Indian Ocean, southwest of the Bay of Bengal, separated from the Indian peninsula by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait

On the way visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where an
orphanage was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and
the wounded elephants. The number of elephants has
increased to more than 65 now; including Baby Elephants
brought from various parts, as well as the 23 babies born, as
a result of the captive breeding program.
On the way visit Dambulla Cave Temple
Dambulla is a vast isolated rock mass 500ft high and a mile
around the base. Here is found the famous Rock Temple
dating to the First Century BC. The caves of
Dambulla sheltered the King Walagamba during his
14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. When he
regained the throne he built the most magnificent of
Rock Temples to be found on the Island. There are
images of deities associated with Buddhism all
around. The frescoes on the ceiling date back to the
15th – 18th Centuries.
Kandalama Heritance Hotel – 1991 | Ar. Geoffery Bawa
Built on a rocky outcrop above the ancient Kandalama tank, in its final design the 160-bedroom hotel is wrapped
around the two sides of the rock with rooms facing across the
tank towards Sigiriya. The two wings are connected by a cave-
like corridor which runs through the rock from the hotel entrance
to the main reception areas.

After breakfast at hotel, checkout & proceed to Kandy
Continue to Sigiriya & visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
Sigiriya is home to the 5th Century ‘Fortress in the Sky”
which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the
Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge
lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress.
Within it triple-moated defense the huge rock rises almost
to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and
gardens complete with swimming pool. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular
painting survived in the form of frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original color.
En route visit a Spice garden at Matale
KANDY- This lovely city is the erstwhile Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings. Encircled by hills, with
a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned “Temple of the Tooth”. Place of interest are the Peradeniya
Botanical Gardens and the Mahaweli Diversion Project in their impressive settings. Spice Garden dot the outskirts
of Kandy along with handicraft centers and the market-place is a hub of activity. Kandy retains an aura of grandeur
which time has not effaced.
Later proceed to City tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake
Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, and Gem Museum.
The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to
the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s
influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries
keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.
Evening witness a Cultural dance performance featuring
various dance types of Sri Lanka- Duration (45 minutes –
01hour).
Temple of the Tooth and Devales, Kandy’s Tooth Relic
Temple is the most significant Buddhist holy place in Sri Lanka,
venerated by Buddhists from Southeast Asia as well. There are
four shrines for Gods connected to the Buddha’s Tooth Temple.
These Devales, which play an important role in the processions
of the Buddha’s Tooth Temple, are mainly Sinhalese places of
worship, whereas Tamil Hindu temples are called Kovils. But
the Devales are closely connected to Hinduism in many ways.
The above mentioned world-famous procession called Kandy Perahara, originates in the Ratha Yatras held for the
Hindu deities.

Dinner & Overnight at Kandy
After breakfast depart to Nuwara Eliya, visit
Visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens- 147 acres in extent; Started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the
Kings of Gampola and Kandy. There are more than 5,000 species of trees, plants and creepers.
En route visit a Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world famous “Ceylon Tea”
and to taste a pure unblended cup of factory fresh tea before being sent to the Tea Auctions in Colombo leading
to Export.
Sightseeing in the city- the important places being the Seetha Eliya, Victoria Park, Gregory Lake, Golf Course and
Market etc.
Optional: Hakgala Botanical Gardens, Hakgala rock surmounts the Hakgala Botanical gardens, only a few
kilometers away from Ashok Vatika. The Hakgala Botanical Gardens was one of the pleasure gardens of King
Ravana. This garden was expanded during the British period and has a wide variety of flowers including an
excellent collection of orchids.

After breakfast proceed to Bentota via Galle
Join for City tour in Galle – This southern seaport was the 17th Century centre of Dutch rule. The town is full of
Dutch monuments, ramparts and forts, to bear witness to this fact. Galle is also famous for its ebony carving and
delicate handmade lace. It has a pleasant atmosphere and a fine view of the sea.
Enroute participate for Madu River Boat Ride and turtle hatchery

After breakfast depart to Colombo
Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port
on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the
Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its
architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and
shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum,
dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling
Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha. Sightseeing
includes:
